Safaricom PLC Ranked 67th As World’s Best Employer 2018 Out of 500 Firms

Safaricom has appeared on a global scale, ranking 67th best employer on Forbes’ World’s Best Employers list. The list, which sees tech companies clinch four out of the five top positions, sees Safaricom being the only company from Africa that is not from South Africa.

This year has seen Kenya’s largest telco by subscriber numbers stand on the spotlight as one of the best company’s to work for. Earlier this year, the company was named Kenya’s best company to work for overall by Brighter Monday after a voting process conducted by current and former employees.
At the top of the list is Google’s parent company, Alphabet, followed by Microsoft, Apple and Amazon closing up top 5. Troubled Facebook comes in 45th on the list. Safaricom ranks higher than multinational companies like Samsung which comes in at 76th, Adobe, Intel, Dell and even the likes of LG and AMD.

Speaking of Africa, Safaricom is the highest ranked company in the continent, which consequently places it as Africa’s best company to work for. The other three African companies all hail from South Africa and include; Naspers – ranked 224, FirstRand – ranked 432 and Sanlam – ranked 457.

Safaricom has been on the news of late with the changes that they have been making towards customer satisfaction. The company has so far introduced new data bundles that offer customers more and even rehired Sylvia Mulinge as Director of Special Projects, whose first task was to work to regain customer’s trust.
